Detectives in Kiambu East Subcounty have launched investigations into the mysterious death of a 35-year-old woman whose body was discovered inside her house alongside a foetus in an incident that has shocked residents.
According to police, the tragic discovery was made on the morning of May 30 after a concerned tenant alerted the landlord that a woman was lying motionless inside her residence.
The tenant reportedly became suspicious after noticing the house door was unlocked and later discovered the woman lying in a pool of blood.
Police Find Body and Foetus at Scene
Officers responded to the report and visited the scene, where they found the woman dead inside the house.
Police further revealed that a foetus attached to the placenta was also found at the scene, prompting investigators to treat the matter as a suspected abortion procurement case pending further investigations.
The circumstances surrounding the woman’s death remain unclear, and detectives are now working to establish what transpired before the tragic incident.
Body Moved to Mortuary
The deceased’s body was transferred to the Kiambu Level 5 Hospital Mortuary, where it is being preserved awaiting a post-mortem examination.
Authorities say the autopsy will help determine the exact cause of death and provide crucial information for the ongoing investigation.
Detectives are also expected to interview witnesses, neighbours and other persons who may assist in piecing together the events leading up to the woman’s death.
Investigations Ongoing
Police have urged members of the public with any information that could assist investigations to cooperate with authorities.
The incident has reignited discussions around maternal health, reproductive healthcare access and the dangers associated with unsafe medical procedures.
Authorities have emphasized that investigations remain active and that conclusions regarding the cause of death will depend on forensic findings and evidence gathered during the inquiry.
More details are expected to emerge once the post-mortem examination is completed and investigators conclude preliminary findings.
