Detectives have rescued five women who were allegedly being held against their will and forced to produce sexually explicit online content after being lured to Nairobi with promises of well-paying jobs.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) said officers from the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) carried out a raid in Embakasi East Constituency following intelligence-led investigations, leading to the rescue of the women and the arrest of three suspects.

According to the DCI, the victims were allegedly confined in two bedrooms inside a residential house, where preliminary investigations indicate they were exploited to create online sexual content for commercial gain.

“The victims were lured with promises of lucrative employment opportunities but were instead forced to produce online sexual content for commercial exploitation,” the DCI said in a statement.

Police arrested a 43-year-old woman believed to be the owner of the premises and the alleged mastermind behind the operation.

Also taken into custody were the woman’s 24-year-old daughter, whom investigators suspect recruited the victims, and her 30-year-old husband, who is alleged to have maintained the computer systems used in the suspected operation.

During the search, detectives recovered several items believed to have facilitated the alleged exploitation. The recovered equipment was documented and seized as exhibits to support ongoing investigations.

The three suspects were taken to Kasarani Police Station, where they remain in custody pending processing and arraignment in court.

Investigations are continuing as detectives seek to establish the full extent of the alleged operation and whether more victims may have been affected.
