Police in Nyandarua County have launched investigations after the body of an unidentified man was found floating in the Sasumua River.
According to police, the incident was reported at about 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday after members of the public spotted a body in the river near Sasumua Bridge along the Engineer–Njabini Road.
Officers who visited the scene found the body of a man believed to be in his mid-30s lying face down in the water.
Preliminary observations revealed mucus oozing from the deceased’s mouth, while visible bruises were noted on the left side of his face.
Crime scene officers documented the scene before the body was removed and taken to the Engineer Sub-County Hospital Mortuary.
Police said the body will remain at the mortuary pending identification and a post-mortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.
Investigations are ongoing to establish the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and identify the deceased.
