Police in Nairobi have arrested a 28-year-old man after his 66-year-old father died following a confrontation at their family home in Mowlem, Nairobi East.
The deceased was identified as James Hunja Macharia, whose death was initially reported to police by his brother under circumstances suspected to involve assault.
Police Discover Head Injuries on Deceased
According to police, officers visited the Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital mortuary, where they examined the body and established that Hunja had sustained several head injuries that may have contributed to his death.
Investigations at the family home revealed that the deceased had allegedly been involved in a confrontation with his son on Friday, October 2, 2026.
Police said the 28-year-old allegedly pushed his father during the altercation, causing him to fall and sustain a head injury.
Son Arrested as Investigations Continue
The suspect reportedly told investigators that his father regained consciousness after the incident but later complained of a headache.
The elderly man was subsequently taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital for medical attention, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Police have arrested the son as detectives continue investigating the circumstances surrounding his father’s death.
The body remains at the hospital mortuary pending further procedures as investigators work to establish the full details of the incident.
