Elon Musk, the owner of X, took a dig at rival social media giant Meta after Facebook and Instagram experienced significant outages on Tuesday evening.
Facebook users found themselves logged out, encountering error messages when attempting to log back in, while Instagram users faced frozen feeds and unresponsive comment sections.
Frustrated users took to X to share their experiences, with many speculating that their accounts had been hacked.
Musk added to the conversation with a cheeky remark, stating, “If you’re reading this post, it’s because our servers are working,” poking fun at Meta’s server issues.
Meta’s Communications Director Andy Stone acknowledged the problem on X, assuring users that they were working to resolve it.
After several minutes of downtime, the sites eventually resumed normal operation, with Guinness World Records noting the surge in traffic to X during the outage as a potential new record.
