Police in Kayole, Nairobi, have shot and killed two suspected robbers in the Kosovo area, while two others managed to escape.

The gang was robbing people on their way to work early Tuesday morning.

Kayole OCPD Paul Wambugu said the two who were gunned down had terrorized residents for a long time and had previously been arrested for similar crimes.

The police chief stated that officers on patrol had received information about thugs who were waylaying and robbing people during the morning rush hour.

According to the police chief, when challenged to surrender, the suspected criminals refused, prompting the police to open fire.

Wambugu said four guns have been recovered so far since Saturday, even as officers ramp up efforts to combat runaway crime in Kayole.
