Former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has hit out at Azimio La Umoja saying that their current tirade against the government is a fool’s errand.
Kidero – who was once a key ally of opposition leader Raila Odinga but has since joined President William Ruto’s UDA – said Azimio is desperate for attention.
“If you ask me what is Azimio’s endgame plan I don’t seem to think or see if they have any. They are on a treadmill, running but without moving,” said Kidero during an interview with K24.
He accused Azimio of having double standards for claiming to support peace but at the same time leading violent protests.
“I know that they claim to be talking of peace but there is no peace, 5 or 6 days ago protests were held in Kisumu and matatus were not allowed to ply,” he said.
“Our mothers, our sisters, and sisters-in-law were not allowed to go and sell their tomatoes.”
Kidero, therefore, opined that leaders in Azimio are desperate, more reason why they keep on lengthening their anti-government protests.
“I think desperation makes people take leave of their senses but I am hard-pressed to believe that Azimio leaders are desperate.”
