Police in Mombasa are investigating a mysterious break-in at the Mombasa County Assembly over the weekend. A number of offices were broken into and equipment and documents were stolen.

Security officers manning the premises could not immediately establish whether the break-in happened on Saturday or Sunday. They claim they neither saw the intruders nor heard anything.

In fact, the incident was discovered by employees on Monday morning. An analysis of the impact of the robbery has shown that the finance office was the most affected as several computers were stolen.

No arrest or recovery has been made so far. The motive of the incident is also yet to be established but investigations are ongoing, police said.
