Johnson Kimani, also known as Wakim, a businessman and former political aspirant, tragically jumped from the sixth floor of his building in Githurai 45 on the night of Monday, June 12.
The news of his death came as a shock to his family, who were already grappling with the difficult task of accepting his sudden passing. A friend, who spoke to sauce.co.ke, expressed the deep sense of disbelief and sorrow that the family is currently experiencing.
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), along with the police and detectives, has initiated an investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the death of Wakim. They are looking into whether he jumped to his death or was pushed from the sixth floor of the building, resulting in his immediate demise.
Wakim had previously participated in the political arena as a candidate for the Githurai Ward MP seat in the general elections held on August 8, 2022. He ran on the ticket of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and secured third place in the fiercely contested race.
On the day he died, Wakim arrived at Gazani, presumably a pub or gathering place, at midnight and headed directly to his preferred spot to sit. Afterward, he retired for the night at a guest house.
It was noted that he deviated from his usual routine by not attending St. Timothy’s Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) in Githurai 45 on Sunday. Church members observed that this absence was uncharacteristic of him.
Wakim was known to have three wives, but last night, a fourth wife unexpectedly showed up at the Githurai 45 police station. Interestingly, the other wives did not acknowledge her presence.
According to a family member, he was separated from his first wife, who had moved out of their marital home and rented a separate house. Remarkably, she rented a house in the same building at Githurai 45 where the third wife also resided. The whereabouts of the second wife, who is the mother of two of his children, remain unknown.
Tragically, he passed away on the same day he had promised to pay the rent for his third wife. Regrettably, he was unable to fulfill this commitment prior to his death.
