“I’m not scared,” Uhuru tells Ruto after police raided his son’s house

Former President Uhuru Kenyatta last night dared his successor William Ruto to go for him instead of targeting his family for reasons he claimed he did not know.

While addressing the press outside his son Jomo’s house in Karen, Nairobi, a visibly agitated, Uhuru said that his son had informed him that there were plain clothes officers demanding access to the home.

Expressing his frustration, the retired Head of State criticized the government for attempting to intimidate those close to him instead of directly targeting him.

He cited various recent incidents that seemed to suggest a government agenda against him, including the withdrawal of security officers from his mother, Mama Ngina Kenyatta, and a threat by Trade, Industry, and Investment Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria to invade his Ichaweri home.

“All of these things are flowing in a row. I have a whole minister of government saying that he’s going to do I don’t know what in front of my mother’s house. I have people who have been guarding my mother for the last 50 years withdrawn at night. I have now a situation where my son’s home is being raided for things that I don’t understand,” he said.

He questioned the government’s intentions, stating, “So I ask myself, what does this government want? Because if it wants me, the fact that I’ve been silent doesn’t mean I’m scared, come for me.”

Uhuru also expressed concern for his family members, questioning why they were being subjected to intimidation.

He urged the authorities to communicate openly if they had issues with him: “What does my mother have to do with anything? What do my children have to with anything? Kama shida yenu ni mimi, I’m here. They know where I am 24/7. Why all this, intimidate a 90-year-old woman and children? If it is me you want, come and tell us what you want.”

Reacting to the raid, Nark-Kenya leader Martha Karua said; ” It is petty, vengeful and unacceptable for William Ruto’s illegitimate regime to target Uhuru’s mother Mama Ngina Kenyatta and son Jomo, and to ceaselessly subject Uhuru the 4th president to unwarranted verbal diatribe. This must stop NOW #EnoughIsEnough.”
