In a recent development in the heart-wrenching case of Nairobi Hospital Finance Director Eric Maigo’s murder, it has been confirmed that Anne Adhiambo Akinyi, the prime suspect in this gruesome incident, is indeed fit to stand trial.

Contrary to earlier speculations that she might have been a minor, an age and mental assessment conducted at Mathari Hospital in Nairobi has affirmed that Adhiambo is a Kenyan adult of sound mind.

Adhiambo’s journey through the legal system began on the 27th of September when she was presented before the court on a miscellaneous application. The court, in response, granted the prosecution 21 days to keep her in custody pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigations.

Sources with knowledge of the investigation have disclosed that the results of the age and mental assessment will be presented before the court at the end of this 21-day period.

This assessment will undoubtedly play a pivotal role in determining the course of this trial.

The Gruesome Crime, Escape and Arrest

The narrative of this case took a dramatic turn when CCTV footage captured Adhiambo fleeing the scene of Maigo’s murder on the morning of the 15th of October in the Jamhuri area of Nairobi.

Her swift capture occurred in Olympic, Kibra, as a result of the diligent efforts of detectives, aided by valuable intelligence provided by concerned members of the public.

Adhiambo stands accused of being behind the brutal murder of Eric Maigo. His lifeless body was discovered in his residence, bearing a horrifying 25 stab wounds.

Upcoming Court Appearance

Having already recorded a statement with the police, Adhiambo is scheduled to appear in court once again on the 28th of October.

The upcoming court proceedings will be closely watched by the public as the case unfolds.
