Kenya Airways (KQ) management has extended their commendation to the crew of the KQ100 flight, which encountered an interception and diversion in the UK due to a security threat alert.
In recognition of their exceptional professionalism and unwavering dedication to ensuring the safety, security, and well-being of passengers aboard, KQ hosted a welcome reception for the flight crew.
This gesture of appreciation was a testament to the crew’s commendable conduct amidst the challenging circumstances that had the potential to affect the national carrier’s reputation.
Allan Kilavuka, the Managing Director of Kenya Airways, led the reception, during which a heartfelt celebration unfolded.
The event featured a joyous atmosphere as crew members and management shared cake and embraced one another. The flight crew participated in group photos, generating moments of deep laughter and camaraderie.
Kilavuka expressed his gratitude and commended the team for their leadership and execution of necessary security precautions.
He highlighted the crew’s adherence to aviation security training, which involved the implementation of stringent safety measures on board. This response showcased the true embodiment of “The Pride of Africa,” as Kenya Airways is known.
The incident in question occurred on October 12 when the KQ100 flight, en route from Nairobi to London’s Heathrow Airport, was intercepted mid-air by French Air Force jets.
Subsequently, the flight was handed over to the UK Royal Air Force and diverted to Stansted Airport due to security concerns.
After rigorous inspections and examinations, authorities cleared the aircraft to continue its operations as Essex police confirmed that no suspicious items were found on board.
Kenya Airways also emphasized that there were no suspicious passengers on the flight, refuting claims of a bomb threat.
The welcome reception and appreciation for the KQ100 crew serve as a testament to their unwavering commitment to the airline’s safety and security standards.
