A 23-year-old woman in Kajiado County is now in police custody after the sudden death of her 59-year-old lover in circumstances that remain unclear. The incident, which occurred on October 18, has raised questions and prompted a police investigation.
According to a report filed at Kitengela Police Station, the woman, identified as Beth Wanjiku, claimed that her boyfriend, Joshua Stephen Muirui, had visited her at her rental house on Balozi Road.
The report states that they had lunch together before moving to the bedroom for an intimate encounter, during which the man unexpectedly lost consciousness.
The police report described the sequence of events, stating, “She prepared meat stew and ugali which they took for lunch. After eating, he requested that they proceed to the bedroom. At around 1600hrs as they were making love, he fell unconscious.”
In response to the situation, Beth Wanjiku placed her unconscious boyfriend beside her and urgently contacted one of his friends, John Kinywa, for assistance. The friend was summoned to help transport the ailing man to the hospital.
Tragically, Joshua Stephen Muirui was pronounced dead upon arrival at Pona Hospital, where he had been rushed for medical attention. The circumstances surrounding his sudden demise remain a subject of investigation.
Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations based at Kitengela responded promptly to the scene, although no exhibits were discovered during their initial assessment.
The deceased’s body has been preserved at Kitengela Sub County Hospital Mortuary, awaiting a postmortem examination to shed light on the cause of death.
