In a recent interview, Anne Njeri Njoroge, a key figure in the Ksh17 billion oil consignment held at the port, has now detailed interactions with high-profile government officials, shedding light on their involvement.

Ann Njeri, who is entrenched in the multi-billion scandal, also spoke of her extensive 30-year tenure in the oil business, perhaps an attempt to put to rest queries on how she came to be the owner of such a huge value oil consignment.

Several high profile persons, including Azimio leader Raila Odinga, have questioned Njeri’s source of wealth.

Njeri, who according to her lawyer is currently in hiding, also recounted her encounters with Kenya Ports Authority (KPA). According to Njeri, the KPA officials also questioned her oil import license.

Her path seeking justice for her ‘stolen consignment’ led to a meeting with Energy Cabinet Secretary Davis Chirchir. During this meeting, she claims she was informed that the fuel belonged to ‘someone else’.

Allegedly, during this encounter, she also encountered Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi. The MP was purportedly present to observe and listen in the meeting.

Amidst abduction and death threats for claiming ownership of the 100,000 metric tonnes of fuel, Njeri, who is currently in hiding, is awaiting testifying before the National Assembly for further elucidation.

Addressing skepticism about her financial capacity, she remarked, “I don’t know what a person with money looks like. It is only God who can lift you up.”

Her lawyer, Cliff Ombeta, emphasized Njeri’s decision not to appear before the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) until after her parliamentary appearance. Ombeta also questioned the necessity of her return to DCI and possible potential detainment.

The Ksh17 billion oil deal has also seen Energy CS Chirchir and Transport counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen implicated by Busia Senator Okiyah Omtata.

According to the Senator, the two high-ranking Cabinet Secretaries in Kenya Kwanza were party to the deal with Ann Njeri before they fell out.
