Uasin Gishu Senator Jackson Mandago, along with three other senior county officials, is set to face charges of corruption and embezzlement related to the Finland scholarship saga.
The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) has approved the inquiry file forwarded by the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Mandago and co-accused individuals allegedly misappropriated Ksh.1.1 billion earmarked for sending over 125 students for higher education to Canada and Finland.
The charges include conspiracy to commit economic crime, abuse of office, breach of trust, fraudulent acquisition of public property, and uttering a false document.
The EACC investigation revealed discrepancies in fund usage, with substantial amounts withdrawn in cash and not allocated for their intended purpose.
EACC is now seeking the arrest of Mandago and the four county officers to proceed with prosecution, following their prior involvement in the scholarship scam.
