Singer Ashanti and rapper Nelly are reportedly expecting their first child together, according to an anonymous source close to the couple. The news comes after the pair rekindled their romance earlier this year, over a decade after their initial split.
Rumors of Ashanti’s pregnancy began to swirl after a video surfaced from Nelly’s Black and White Ball, showing the couple sharing a suggestive moment on stage. The host of the event even chanted, “Seal the deal,” as Ashanti playfully rubbed her stomach while Nelly followed suit.
Ashanti and Nelly initially dated on and off for a decade before reuniting in 2023. Their relationship has been described as a “right person/wrong time” scenario, especially considering their past history and the recent string of celebrity breakups.
In an interview on Rasheeda’s “Boss Moves” podcast, Nelly revealed that getting back together with Ashanti was an unexpected turn of events.
“It wasn’t anything that was, like, I don’t think planned. I think we both was pretty much doing what we do. But sometimes being separate, you understand one another more,” he explained.
Meanwhile, Ashanti subtly hinted at their rekindled romance at the 2023 VMAs by carrying a purse adorned with a photo of her and Nelly from the night they met in 2003.
