An employee of Safaricom, a leading telecommunications provider while testifying in court has said that former Migori Governor Okoth Obado was not present at the location where Sharon Otieno was reportedly murdered.

The court is currently hearing the case in which Obado and two others are charged with the murder of Sharon Otieno, a student at Rongo University, and her unborn child.

Quinto Odek Etyang informed the court that Obado remained in Nairobi from the night of September 2 to September 5, 2018.

Additionally, Etyang provided testimony regarding M-Pesa transactions allegedly carried out by a witness under witness protection between August 1 and September 6, 2018.

During cross-examination, the witness specified that on September 2, 2018, at 16:50 hrs, Obado was recorded in Suswa, Rift Valley. Subsequently, at 17:32 hrs, the former Migori Governor’s location was identified by a cell tower in Mai Mahiu.

The court was apprised that at 18:03 hrs, Obado was traced to Sigona, and at 18:27 hrs on the same day, he was located in Lavington. Etyang affirmed, “I confirm that throughout the night of the 2nd going to the third, the subscriber spent his night at Lavington.”

The proceedings in the case are scheduled to continue on Wednesday.
