Tragedy struck in Kabocha village in Kiambu County on Saturday, December 30, after a fire killed four family members.
The victims, members of one family, were identified as 40-year-old Peris Njoroge and her three children Susan Njeri (22), Mark Njuguna (16), and Edward Mbugua (10).
The four were reportedly asleep during the tragic incident. According to police reports, they were all unfortunately burnt beyond recognition.
Police collected their bodies and transferred them to Thogoto mortuary.
According to witnesses in the area, neighbours tried to fight the fiery inferno with little success. They further claimed that had fire fighting services responded swiftly, then probably some members of the family would have been saved.
Relatives of the dead have now requested the government to investigate the cause of the fire. Meanwhile police have launched investigations into the incident.
