Comedian Dr Kingori has announced the end of his show ‘The Wicked Edition’ after a seven-year run at NTV.
King’ori announced his exit from the Aga Khan-owned NTV via a social media message to his fans on Facebook.
“Dear esteemed viewers, welcome to the last edition of The Wicked Edition on TV Kenya airing tonight (7:30pm), Friday January 12. It has been 7 transformative years and over 300 unforgettable episodes on TV and over 70 million views on YouTube, making The Wicked Edition the longest-running satire show on Kenyan television,” King’ori posted.
King’ori noted that he was charting a new path and was set for more excellent endeavors, although he did not disclose his reason for leaving NTV.
“This journey, while ending with NTV Kenya, is set for a new beginning as we expand our reach, venture into greater creative endeavours and continue delivering value-laden content to our fans across East Africa and beyond.”
Reports obtained by sauce.co.ke had previously indicated that NTV was cancelling most of its editorial shows in a drastic change of strategy. The cancellation were anticipated to also lead to a reduction of news content.
The changes which took effect on Monday morning are according to insiders meant to weed out ‘unpopular shows’ and replace them with what management feels the viewers want to watch.
Other talk shows on the chopping block include AM Live, ‘With All Due Respect’ which is hosted by James Smart every Tuesday night and Thursday night’s ‘Front And Centre’ hosted by Ben Kitili.
