In the dynamic world of smartphones, Android users are empowered with a myriad of features to enhance their mobile experience. One such feature that often goes unnoticed but holds significant utility is call barring. Infact there are so many people who don’t know how to add or remove call barring on their Android phones yet it is a very unique feature.

What is call barring?

Call barring is a native feature on Android devices that allows users to restrict incoming and outgoing calls based on various parameters. This functionality can be particularly useful in scenarios where users need to manage their call preferences, such as avoiding international calls, barring certain numbers, or ensuring privacy during specific hours.

How important is call-barring?

Call barring is a feature that allows you to block incoming or outgoing calls on your phone. It can be useful in situations such as when you are abroad or when you don’t want to be disturbed by unwanted calls. According to Samsung Gulf, call barring is perfect for when you have a work and personal SIM connected and don’t want to be contacted via your work number on your day off. You can enable or disable certain settings within call barring to suit your needs.

While call barring can be useful, it is not a necessary feature for all users. If you find yourself in situations where you need to block incoming or outgoing calls, then call barring can be a useful tool. However, if you don’t need this feature, then you can safely ignore it.

How to Activate Call Barring

  • Open Phone Settings:
  • Navigate to the “Settings” menu on your Android phone and select “Call settings” or “Phone settings,” depending on your device model.
  • Access Call Barring Settings:
  • Look for the “Call Barring” or “Call Restrictions” option within the call settings menu.
  • Select the Call Type:
  • Choose whether you want to bar incoming calls, outgoing calls, or both. Some Android devices may also offer the option to bar international or roaming calls.
  • Enter the PIN Code:
  • You may be prompted to enter your PIN code to access and modify call barring settings. If you haven’t set a PIN, you may need to create one.
  • Set Call Barring Parameters:
  • Specify the conditions for call barring, such as particular numbers, types of calls, or time periods during which the barring should be active.
  • Save and Activate:
  • Save your settings, and the call barring feature will be activated based on your configured parameters.

Common use cases of call barring on Android phones

  • Avoiding Unwanted Calls:
  • Block calls from specific numbers or unknown callers to maintain a disturbance-free environment.
  • International Call Management:
  • Bar outgoing international calls to prevent accidental dialling or to control roaming charges.
  • Privacy During Meetings or Sleep:
  • Schedule call barring during meetings, appointments, or sleep hours to enjoy uninterrupted personal time.
  • Parental Controls:
  • Use call barring to restrict outgoing calls on devices used by children, ensuring their safety and managing screen time.

How to disable call barring on Android phones

For instance, you have the ability to block incoming, outgoing, or international calls, a handy feature when seeking a moment of peace, preventing accidental calls, or managing expenses by avoiding international calls. In essence, call barring functions as your phone’s gatekeeper, allowing you to control which calls are permitted and which are not. But how can you deactivate call barring on your Android phone, such as a Samsung Galaxy? Follow these steps:

  1. Open the phone app on your Android device.
  2. Look for the three-dot menu or settings gear icon located within the Phone app.
  3. Navigate to the settings or call settings option.
  4. Locate the choice for call barring or a similar term within the settings.
  5. Once in the call barring settings, you will find options for various types of call barring (e.g., incoming calls and outgoing calls).
  6. Disable the call-barring options you wish to deactivate by unchecking or toggling off the corresponding settings.
  7. Enter a PIN (if required): Some carriers may mandate a PIN to modify call-barring settings. If prompted, input the correct PIN.
  8. Save your changes and exit the settings.

By following these steps, you can easily manage your call-barring settings on your Android phone, tailoring them to your specific preferences and needs.

How to remove call restrictions

Numerous Android users also utilize Safaricom lines for making calls. In lieu of applying call-barring restrictions through the Android settings, alternative options can be found within the phone’s SIM card settings, particularly for Safaricom lines. Here’s a step-by-step guide on how to remove incoming call barring when using a Safaricom network:

  1. Dial #330*0000# and press the call button.
  2. If you have altered the barring password, dial #330* call barring password# and press the call button. The default barring password is 0000. In case of a password change and inability to recall it, reach out to Safaricom self-care or send them a message via their social media platforms on Twitter or Facebook.
  3. Follow Safaricom, wait for them to follow you back, then send them a direct message with your phone number, and they will assist you.
  4. Alternatively, call 100 from your mobile phone and follow the provided steps.

By following these steps, you can efficiently remove incoming call barring on your Safaricom network, ensuring a seamless calling experience.

How to remove barred message restrictions

To remove barred message restrictions on your Android phone, you can try the following steps:

  1. Open the Settings app on your Android device.
  2. Tap on Apps.
  3. Find the app that you want to remove the restrictions for and tap on it.
  4. Tap on More.
  5. Tap on Allow restricted settings.
  6. Follow the on-screen instructions to remove the restrictions.

Please note that some device settings may be restricted when you install an app to protect you from harmful apps . If you are unsure about an app you’ve been told to download, go to the official website of the company or organization. You can also search for the app on an app store you trust, like Google Play .

I hope this helps!
