A police officer who, in December of last year, shot four people at Vegas Club in Nakuru County is set to face murder charges.

The Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) announced on Wednesday that it is content with the investigation carried out by the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) regarding the incident.

Based on the evidence presented, the ODPP deems it sufficient to sustain a murder charge against Constable Nicholas Musau.

Musau is scheduled to be charged with two counts of murder, as per Section 203 read with Section 204 of the penal code, with the proceedings set for Wednesday.

The police officer allegedly fatally shot Ann Maina and Laura Kwasira, and injured Benjamin Kote and Edwin Apungana during an altercation over a disputed Sh16,000 bill.

The incident occurred on December 12, 2023, at 2 am, when the officer discharged his firearm in the pub before fleeing the scene.

Subsequently, the officer was apprehended and placed in custody at Kaptembwa police station a few hours after the incident.
