Gospel singer turned preacher Size 8, has opened up about the toll money and fame took on her genuine relationships.
The shamba boy hitmaker shared that within a span of three years, she experienced the zenith of her life, propelled by the success of hit songs that catapulted her to one of the music industry’s most prominent figures.
In a recent interview, Size 8 candidly revealed that the pursuit of wealth taught her a valuable lesson – that money does not guarantee everything.
“Money is not everything because when I got money and fame, I lost true love, I lacked peace, people didn’t love me for who I was. I faced stress and started drinking alcohol at some point.”
The impact of her newfound success extended to her social circles. “My true friends became jealous, and fake friends became even more jealous. I started drinking every day, and at one point, I found myself in the club alone in the morning.”
Navigating the world of fame proved isolating for Size 8. “That world is very lonely. Many people love me, but how many truly love me?”
Despite her initial skepticism about finding success in the gospel music industry, Size 8 persevered. “I had started a business to store copies in case the music did not go well.”
One of Size 8’s significant challenges was her health.
“I was struggling with ulcers and high blood pressure. At times, I used the lowest key. We go through things to discipline us.”
“I lost two children due to high blood pressure.”
