Kelly Clarkson says a diagnosis about her health motivated her to take a hard look at her life and make some new lifestyle choices.
Kelly Clarkson, born Kelly Brianne on April 24, 1982, is an American singer, songwriter, author, and television personality.
Renowned for winning the first season of American Idol in 2002, she secured a record deal with RCA Records as a result. Her debut single, “A Moment Like This,” not only soared to the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 but also claimed the title of the country’s best-selling single of 2002.
Clarkson’s multifaceted career has seen her evolve into a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
During a recent episode of her daytime talk show, where guest Kevin James praised her current appearance, she opened up about a significant health diagnosis that served as a catalyst for positive lifestyle changes.
“Well, I was told I was prediabetic,” Clarkson shared, revealing that the diagnosis didn’t catch her entirely off guard as she acknowledged being slightly overweight at the time.
“You’re prediabetic, you’re right on the borderline,” she explained.
Despite initially jesting about not being there yet, the singer and talk show host admitted that it took about two years before she felt prepared to address the issue.
Taking her health into consideration, Clarkson started listening to her doctors, modifying her diet, and incorporating more exercise into her routine.
“There’s a huge difference between being in shape and losing weight — and I am the latter,” Clarkson said.
