A 40-year-old man was apprehended for allegedly defiling his 13-year-old stepdaughter in Athi River, Machakos County.

The suspect was arrested at his rented residence in Embakasi Estate within Athi River Township.

Jos Mudavadi, the Athi River South subcounty police commander, revealed that the suspect had been evading authorities since the alleged incident occurred in January 2024.

His arrest took place around 11:00 pm on Saturday, following his return to the residence from hiding, prompted by a tip-off.

The minor’s mother lodged the complaint with the Athi River police station on January 28, 2024.

The victim, a Grade 8 student at a local public school in Athi River sub-county, underwent a medical examination at a private hospital in Kitengela, Kajiado County, on January 30, 2024.

Mudavadi affirmed that the suspect will face charges in Mavoko Law Courts, Machakos County, on Monday.
