Cristiano Ronaldo’s team, Al Nassr, had a night to remember as they crashed Lionel Messi’s side as they emerged with a resounding 6-0 victory at a game played on Thursday, February 01.
Former Manchester City defender Aymeric Laporte showcased his prowess by scoring from inside his own half as Al-Nassr dominated a poor Inter Miami side.
The absence of Cristiano Ronaldo, a key player in the highly anticipated friendly against Lionel Messi’s MLS side, did not hinder Al-Nassr’s stellar performance.
While Ronaldo was sidelined due to a calf problem, his teammates delivered an impressive display in Riyadh.
Brazilian Talisca secured a hat-trick for the Saudi Pro League club, complemented by goals from Otavio and Mohammed Maran.
Messi, on the other hand, was limited to just seven minutes on the field, as Al-Nassr claimed a commanding victory.
Ronaldo’s reunion with Messi was thwarted as the Al-Nassr forward was ruled out of the Thursday friendly with Inter Miami due to his ongoing injury.
Luis Castro, Ronaldo’s coach, confirmed that the 38-year-old star is in the final stages of recovery, aiming to rejoin the team in the coming days.
“Ronaldo is in the final part of his recovery to join the group. We hope that in the next few days you can start working with the team, but he will be absent from the game,” Castro said.
