A Multi Media University student was attacked on Tuesday night while heading to his hostel around the Maasai Lodge area in Ongata Rongai.
According to the police, Kelvin Mwenda, 21 was attacked by the hynena at around 8 p.m. A man who heard his screams and rushed to his aid was also attacked in the process.
The two sustained serious injuries and were rushed to Wama Nursing Home for treatment as Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officers mounted a search for the hyena.
Multimedia University students have this morning launched a protest over the attack. They have lit bonfires along the Nairobi Magadi road, demanding that KWS address the issue of wildlife intrusion into their campus.
The university is located on the edge of Nairobi National Park.
