Two police officers stationed at Kabonge police station in Ndia, Kirinyaga County, are currently detained at Baricho police station due to their suspected involvement in the disappearance of an AK47 rifle.

Kirinyaga West Sub-County Police Commander, Moses Koskei, disclosed that the officers were on duty at the time the firearm went missing, and the circumstances surrounding its loss remain unclear.

“The two were on duty when the gun allegedly got lost, and they are being held here at Baricho police station as we continue with our investigations so that the officers can provide more information, which can give us crucial leads,” stated Koskei. He assured residents not to be alarmed, emphasizing that ongoing investigations aim to recover the missing firearm.

Concerns have been raised by residents about the potential consequences of a missing AK47 rifle, as it could potentially be used to commit crimes in various parts of Kirinyaga.
