Brian Chira’s grandmother delivered a heartfelt tribute to him during his funeral held in Githunguri, Kiambu County on Tuesday. She fondly remembered Chira as a God-fearing and supportive individual who always prioritized the well-being of his family.

Reflecting on her role as Chira’s primary guardian since the passing of his mother when he was just eight years old, Chira’s grandmother recounted his childhood with warmth and pride.

She described him as a responsible and caring young boy with ambitious dreams for their family. Despite facing hardships, Chira remained steadfast in his commitment to support his loved ones, often putting their needs before his own.

“He was my first grandson, born to my first daughter. He was my closest companion since childhood, always supportive and obedient. He took on household chores and cared for his cousins. His biggest desire was to see us settled in a comfortable home with our own compound. He made countless sacrifices for us,” she shared.

Chira’s grandmother also recalled his decision to leave school in order to find work and provide for their family, demonstrating his selflessness and dedication. She cherished their last conversation on March 9, where they discussed family matters, and expressed her regret that Chira may not have fully realized his impact on society during his lifetime.

The grieving grandmother expressed profound sadness over the sudden loss of her beloved grandson, acknowledging the void left in their lives by his untimely passing. She conveyed her love for Chira and expressed her longing to reunite with him in the afterlife, while also sending heartfelt messages to his late mother and other departed loved ones.

Chira’s tragic died in a hit-and-run accident on March 16, 2024.
