Following her recent apology regarding a controversially edited family photo, the Princess of Wales was seen departing Windsor Castle alongside her husband, Prince William, on March 11.
The couple was photographed sitting together in the backseat of a car, with Kate, who is recuperating from abdominal surgery, peering out of her window.
Reports suggest that at the time of the photographs, William was en route to Commonwealth Day services at London’s Westminster Abbey, while Kate was heading to an appointment.
Earlier that day, Kate addressed the backlash surrounding the Mother’s Day portrait she shared on her and William’s social media accounts on March 10.
“Like many amateur photographers, I do occasionally experiment with editing,” the 42-year-old expressed on X, formerly known as Twitter. “I wanted to express my apologies for any confusion the family photograph we shared yesterday caused. I hope everyone celebrating had a very happy Mother’s Day. C.”
The photograph in question, featuring her children Prince George, 10, Princess Charlotte, 8, and Prince Louis, 5, was withdrawn from photo agencies amid allegations of manipulation.
“The Associated Press initially published the photo, which was issued by Kensington Palace,” stated AP in a declaration to NBC News on March 10. “The AP later retracted the image because at closer inspection, it appears that the source had manipulated the image in a way that did not meet AP’s photo standards. The photo shows an inconsistency in the alignment of Princess Charlotte’s left hand.”
This incident has only served to intensify social media conspiracy theories, which have proliferated during Kate’s absence from the public eye. Interestingly, the family photo was intended to mark Kate’s first official portrait since her surgery, but it has now garnered attention for entirely different reasons.
