Public Service, Performance, and Delivery Management Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has issued a threat to sue the Nation Media Group over allegations of forgery regarding Jacque Maribe’s purported appointment controversy.
Kuria vehemently denied confirming Maribe’s appointment as the Head of Communication within his docket by the Public Service Commission.
The Cabinet Secretary challenged the author of the article to provide evidence supporting the claim that he endorsed Maribe’s appointment by the Public Service Commission.
“I have since informed Mr. Gitagama that the alleged screenshot is a forgery. I will be reporting the Nation Media Group and the reporter for fraud and forgery at the DCI Headquarters at 9:30 am tomorrow,” Kuria declared.
However, Kuria reiterated his support for Maribe despite the surrounding controversies and unjustified bullying, particularly since her acquittal in the murder case of businesswoman Monica Kimani.
“Contrary to reports by the Nation, I have never been interviewed by the media house nor made any comment or announcement about Jacque Maribe. I have challenged CEO Stephen Gitagama to provide evidence from one Mwangi Muiruri, who wrote the article,” Kuria asserted.
The Public Service Commission (PSC) refuted claims of appointing Maribe as the head of communications at the Public Service Ministry.
In a statement released on Thursday, PSC Chairperson Anthony Muchiri stated that “no such appointment has been made, nor has a request to employ her been received by the board.”
“For the record, the said position will be filled through a competitive recruitment process should a vacancy arise,” Muchiri clarified.
Maribe, previously charged alongside her former fiancé Joseph Irungu, alias Jowie, was acquitted of the murder of the businesswoman, who was killed at her apartment in Nairobi’s Kilimani area in 2018.
Justice Grace Nzioka ruled that there was insufficient evidence linking Maribe to the murder, emphasizing the prosecution’s failure to provide substantial proof of her involvement in the crime.
While acknowledging Maribe’s responsibility for providing false information to the police during the murder probe, Nzioka underscored that she was not appropriately charged before the court.
Maribe’s ex-fiancé, Jowie, was found guilty of Monica’s murder and was handed the death sentence on March 13.
