Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko on Tuesday met with Mary Njoki, a woman who gained viral attention a few days ago for tattooing his face on her thigh.
Njoki, a single mother from Murang’a, captured online fame after revealing her tattoo of Sonko’s face and reaching out to the flamboyant politician for assistance. In a heartfelt appeal on social media, she showcased the detailed tattoo and expressed her struggles, seeking support for herself and her children.
In response, Sonko welcomed Njoki to his Nairobi offices, where they had a meeting. They sat down in one of his lavish offices, and Sonko conducted a thorough interview with her. Learning about her background as an unemployed single mother with limited education, Sonko pledged to help her by establishing a boutique business in Murang’a town. However, he clarified that he would not provide cash, instead opting to cover the initial expenses for setting up the shop and supporting her in acquiring stock.
During their conversation, Sonko also expressed interest in Njoki’s children and ensured that her needs would be attended to by contacting his associate named ‘Francis’ and pledging a contribution of Ksh. 100,000 towards her new venture.
Regarding Njoki’s tattoo of him, Sonko gently suggested the possibility of removing it in the future, expressing appreciation for her support but emphasizing her autonomy over her body.
In an interview with Digital reporters, Njoki explained that her admiration for Sonko’s altruism motivated her to get the tattoo, expressing her fandom for him and his efforts to assist others.
