Diana Kyaremera, the daughter of Uganda President Yoweri Museveni, has officially confirmed the dissolution of her nearly 18-year marriage with businessman Geoffrey Kamuntu.

“I have tried to keep my divorce private and out of the public sphere for the sake of my children. However, I feel the need to clarify now,” said Diana.

Alongside her statement, she presented the “Decree Nisi,” a legal document confirming the termination of her marriage, which was issued in 2022.

Acknowledging the inherent difficulties of divorce, especially when children are involved, Kyaremera expressed the emotional toll it had taken on her.

“I ask that the public continues to pray for my family as we move forward from this difficult time and that you will respect our privacy,” she said.

Kyaremera formally applied to the National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) in 2022 to drop the use of her husband’s name, “Kamuntu.” She expressed her preference to be known as Diana Museveni Kyaremera.

Diana holds the position of managing director of Museveni family enterprises, overseeing all private ventures of the first family.

Beyond her business responsibilities, she has also ventured into acting, notably portraying the First Lady in the Ugandan film “27 Guns,” directed by her sister Natasha Karugire.

The union between Diana and Geoffrey Kamuntu began on July 24, 2004, and they share three children – two boys and one girl.

In a previous interview, Diana shared the story of how she met Kamuntu at her sister Natasha Karugire’s home, recalling being instantly drawn to his tall and handsome demeanor.

Kamuntu owns a procurement firm specializing in consultancy services for oil exploration companies in the Albertine region, with rumored interests in the Heritage Oil Company.
