Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s lengthy and contentious divorce process seems to be reaching a conclusion, with Pitt reportedly no longer pursuing shared custody of their children.
The couple, who separated in 2016, has been embroiled in a legal dispute that now appears to be nearing an end. Negotiations are underway, and a resolution is expected by summer. Initially, Pitt, 60, had sought joint custody of their six children, but recent developments indicate a change in his position.
As a result, Jolie, 48, is likely to have primary custody of the children, while Pitt will have visitation rights. One significant factor influencing this decision is the ages of the children. With most of them now adults, including Maddox, 22, Pax, 20, and Zahara, 19, custody arrangements no longer apply to them.
Only Shiloh, 17, and the twins Knox and Vivienne, 15, are still minors, with Shiloh set to turn 18 in May. Reports suggest strained relationships between Pitt and some of the older children, particularly Pax, who allegedly hasn’t communicated with Pitt since a disagreement on a private plane that marked the end of Pitt and Jolie’s marriage.
In a private Instagram post in 2020, Pax criticized Pitt, accusing him of causing fear among his younger siblings. Additionally, Zahara has chosen to use the name “Zahara Jolie” instead of “Zahara Jolie Pitt,” indicating a degree of detachment from Pitt.
While legal proceedings indicate progress in resolving their divorce, disputes over assets like their former vineyard persist. Despite the ongoing legal battles, Jolie’s lawyer has expressed her desire to move forward amicably and focus on healing their family, hinting at the possibility of reconciliation beyond the courtroom.
