Nigerian artist Davido has broken his silence following an April Fools’ Day prank by a Kenyan publication that went viral, falsely alleging his arrest at JKIA with a stash of cocaine hidden in his private jet’s compartment.

Davido, whose real name is David Adedeji Adeleke, clarified that he had not been arrested and had safely returned to Nigeria after recent performances in Kenya and Uganda. “I want to assure my fans that these reports are entirely untrue,” he asserted. “I successfully completed my scheduled shows in Uganda and Kenya and have since returned home to Nigeria.”

Expressing dismay over the prank article’s repercussions, the Afrobeats star revealed receiving numerous concerned calls. He emphasized that he has never faced arrest in any country he has visited throughout his career.

“I’d also like to note that I have never been arrested by anyone in any country for any crime in the world,” he said.

“Not in my home Nigeria, not in my home America, nor in any of the hundreds of countries I’ve visited throughout my career.”
