Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, who also serves as the deputy principal of the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party, has emphasized the importance of transparency in the upcoming grassroots elections of the party.

During a meeting with party officials at his official residence in Karen on Wednesday night, Gachagua highlighted the need for credible elections, stating that they are essential for determining the enduring strength of the UDA.

Among the attendees were party chairperson Cecily Mbarire, Secretary-General Cleophas Malala, Vice-Chairman Hassan Omar, Organising Secretary Vincent Musyoka Kawaya, Treasurer Japheth Nyakundi, Executive Director Nicodemus Bore, and other senior officials. The elections will be conducted in four phases on April 26, June 22, August 10, and August 24.

Anthony Mwaura, Chairperson of the Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) Board, was appointed as the Chairperson of the National Elections Board, with Veronica Kiberenge serving as Vice Chairperson. Additional members appointed include Lydia Munika, Jimmy Kaingi, Mary Mutinga, Halake Dida, and Linda Kiome.

However, elections in Nyanza have been postponed following the unfortunate passing of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Francis Ogolla.
