Renowned HIV activist Asunta Wagura has embraced a new chapter of motherhood with the arrival of twin girls, defying expectations and sparking joy at the same time.

Approaching her 60s, Asunta’s announcement of the birth of her twin daughters has stirred admiration, especially considering she last gave birth to twins in 2014.

Sharing her exhilaration on social media, Asunta expressed profound gratitude for the unexpected blessings.

“Starting this new adventure at my age was unexpected, but life’s surprises are a testament to its beauty,” Asunta remarked.

Reflecting on her journey to mothering girls, Asunta revealed that after years of anticipation, the news of expecting twins initially came as a shock. However, the overwhelming joy and gratitude soon overshadowed any apprehension.

“These girls have filled my life with love and light,” she said while emphasizing her rejuvenated sense of purpose and vitality in her approaching 60s.

Asunta’s journey as an HIV activist began in 1988 when she received her diagnosis, a time when such news was accompanied by stigma and despair. Despite facing rejection and adversity, Asunta persevered and co-founded KENWA (the Kenyan Network of Women with AIDS) to support fellow HIV patients.
