Police in Kisii are on the hunt for a driver who fled after his vehicle, suspected of transporting several sacks of bhang, veered off the Kisii-Keroka road.
According to reports, the vehicle was displaying suspicious behavior, prompting the police to give chase.
“Today, very early in the morning, while our officers were patrolling along the Kisii-Keroka road, they spotted a vehicle being driven suspiciously and decided to pursue it,” stated a police officer.
The driver attempted to evade capture by steering the vehicle onto a dirt road but lost control, causing it to crash into a ditch.
Upon inspecting the vehicle, the police discovered it was loaded with 14 sacks filled with brooms of cannabis sativa, commonly known as bhang. It is suspected that the illegal cargo was destined for Nairobi, Nakuru, or Kericho.
Although the driver managed to flee the scene, the police are actively pursuing him. “He may run, but he cannot hide, and we will apprehend him and ensure he faces the consequences,” declared the officer.
The exact value of the seized bhang has yet to be determined. “We are awaiting experts to weigh the sacks and determine their total weight so that we can ascertain their street value,” explained the officer.
