Authorities in Mwea, Kirinyaga County, are in pursuit of a 17-year-old boy suspected of fatally harming his 12-year-old cousin before fleeing the scene in Kagio town.

The suspect, identified as a Form Three student, allegedly committed the act under unclear circumstances while he and his Grade Seven cousin were alone in their family residence.

Pauline Wairimu, the deceased’s mother and the suspect’s aunt, narrated the chilling incident: “I left my daughter doing homework with her cousin and I went to the market with my maid and husband. After finishing our errands, my husband and I stayed back while the maid headed home.” Upon returning, they found the girl lying in a pool of blood.

Wairimu expressed shock, stating, “I did not think that my sister’s child would kill my daughter.”

Kirinyaga Police Commander Andrew Naibei confirmed the tragic event, mentioning visible injuries on the victim’s body. The deceased was taken to Kibugi Funeral Home for post-mortem examination.

The police assured the public of their commitment to apprehending the suspect and bringing him to justice.
