Digital creator Eddie Butita has addressed criticism regarding his presence at State House on Sunday. Butita was among the personalities invited to interview President William Ruto through digital platforms.
He emphasized that his participation was purely for conducting an interview, similar to those done by traditional media outlets.
“This is an interview just like the rest. These are different journalists from various digital media outlets. Is there a problem? Hakuna! You can’t bring down youths in the name of fighting for youths double speak at its peak. I see no issue with digital media entities conducting interviews just like mainstream outlets,” Butita clarified.
Butita has faced backlash following his stance on the Finance Bill 2024 and his perceived association with the government, which is currently facing significant opposition. Additionally, his YouTube channel, which had around 300,000 subscribers, has reportedly been deactivated amid these controversies.
