Mary Kamunge, popularly known as Rish Kamunge on TikTok, has been accused of swindling millions of shillings from desperate jobseekers while posing as a travel agent and overseas recruiter.

Through her agency, Trustpin Travel Agency, located along Moi Avenue in Nairobi CBD, Rish allegedly advertised fake job opportunities abroad, luring thousands of hopeful Kenyans into paying between KSh 200,000 and KSh 400,000 for airfare, agency fees, and other costs.

Some victims were flown to Mauritius, only to discover upon arrival that they had no jobs, valid documents, or accommodation. Stranded and without food or shelter, Mauritian authorities were forced to deport them back to Kenya.

On Wednesday, March 26, tens of victims stormed Kamunge’s office demanding full refunds after realizing they had been conned. She was arrested and is currently in police custody as investigations continue.

Through her lawyer, Rish insists that no one was scammed and claims that plans are underway to refund victims. However, she states that deductions will be made for expenses her company allegedly incurred in the process of securing the fictitious jobs.
