Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has fired back at President William Ruto, accusing him of lying and misleading the public regarding their fallout.
Gachagua’s sharp response came after Ruto’s Monday night interview at Sagana State Lodge, where the President addressed his former deputy’s impeachment for the first time. Ruto blamed Gachagua for his own downfall, citing conflicts with officials and MPs, including complaints about blogger Dennis Itumbi. He also claimed Gachagua had demanded Ksh10 billion to organize politics in Mt. Kenya, allegedly threatening Ruto with a one-term presidency if the money was not provided.
In a strongly worded tweet, Gachagua dismissed Ruto’s remarks, saying:
“I am now convinced more than ever before, that pathological lying is a mental disorder. The greatest existential threat to our beloved country is outright lying to the people of Kenya without blinking and failure by a leader to put his team together to harmonise their lies. I weep for my country, Kenya.”
Gachagua’s reaction signals escalating tensions between the two former allies, with political observers speculating on the potential fallout within the Kenya Kwanza coalition.
