Kenyan music legend Nazizi is making a comeback to the music scene with a brand-new single titled “Gai Fafa.”

Produced by the late Hilton Mwakio, also known as Herbalist, “Gai Fafa” is a vibrant anthem celebrating life, encouraging listeners to let go of their struggles and embrace joy.

Nazizi views this release as both a gift to her dedicated fans and a tribute to a dear friend. She shares, “This one is for the fans who have supported me over the last 25 years, especially during my recent period of grief. I can’t express enough how much your messages and encouragement have meant to me. I wanted to say thank you in the only way I know – through music. It’s also a tribute to Hilton, who loved this song so much and kept urging me to release it. This one’s for him too.”

The music video for the track was filmed in Arusha, Tanzania, directed by Okey, with choreography by Chiki and Kevo from The Dance Shagz (Kenya), featuring the Purple Dancers Crew.

As the First Lady of Kenyan reggae and hip hop, Nazizi infuses this track with a sense of liberation and joy.

She explains, “It’s all about letting go of stress, dancing freely, and allowing yourself to feel good—even if just for a moment.” She adds, “This is my first-ever dance-focused video, and I can’t wait to see the dance challenges that will come from it.”

“Gai Fafa” is not part of an album but a heartfelt, standalone release. Nazizi first performed the track live at Blankets & Wine in December 2024, asking the audience if it should be released. The crowd’s enthusiastic response gave her the go-ahead.

Looking to the future, Nazizi is working on a 6-track reggae EP, set to be released later this year and dedicated to her reggae-loving fans.
