The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has refuted claims that the principal of Butere Girls High School has been transferred, following a heated public debate over the school’s controversial drama production, Echoes of War.
Speaking to the press, Kakamega County TSC Director Wilson Koros dismissed the reports, which had been circulating widely on social media, as baseless and untrue.
“There is no official communication regarding any transfer of the Butere Girls principal. I have also seen the reports online, but they are not true,” Koros clarified.
He further emphasized that he was not in a position to authorize such a move, highlighting that he was away on official duty.
“I am currently in Naivasha for a training alongside my regional director, and I have not authorised such claims. There is nothing even close to that,” he added.
The clarification comes in the wake of sharp criticism from Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Ogamba, who took issue with the school’s decision to allow a non-teacher to direct the play. According to Ogamba, this move violated established national education guidelines and disciplinary protocols.
As the storm around Echoes of War continues to brew, the TSC’s firm stance signals that no administrative decisions concerning the school’s leadership have been made—at least for now.
