The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) has announced that campaigns for the August 10, 2027, General Election will officially run from May 29 to August 7, 2027.
Speaking on the electoral roadmap, Election Operations Committee Chairperson Ann Nderitu said campaigns must end 48 hours before polling day, in accordance with the commission’s Election Operations Plan (EOP) for the 2027 General Election.
Under the timetable released by the electoral agency, all public officers intending to vie for elective positions will be required to resign from their positions by February 9, 2027.
Political parties have also been directed to submit membership registers and details of aspirants participating in party primaries by March 16, 2027.
The roadmap further stipulates that political parties must complete their nomination exercises and resolve any internal disputes by May 9, 2027. Independent candidates will also be required to have resigned from political parties and submitted their proposed names and symbols to the commission by the same deadline.
According to the schedule, candidate nominations will take place between May 29 and June 11, 2027. Any disputes arising from the nomination process must be filed by June 12, with the commission expected to determine them within 10 days.
The roadmap is expected to guide political parties, aspirants, and stakeholders as preparations begin for Kenya’s next General Election, which will be held on August 10, 2027.
