Kiharu MP and People’s Party of Kenya (PPK) leader Ndindi Nyoro has welcomed two politicians from the ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) into his party.
Nyoro announced the defections on August 20, 2026, just days after making his own exit from UDA and joining PPK as he seeks to strengthen the party ahead of the 2027 General Election.
The two politicians are Zack Macharia, the sitting Member of County Assembly (MCA) for Kiuu Ward, popularly known as Githurai 45, in Ruiru Constituency, and Winnie Wambui, a Kiambu County MCA.
Announcing their move, Nyoro said the two MCAs had formally joined the People’s Party of Kenya.
“Today we have received Members of the County Assembly from Kiambu County to the People’s Party; Hon Zack Macharia – Current MCA, Kiuu (Githurai 45), Ruiru Constituency and Winnie Wambui – Kiambu MCA,” Nyoro stated.
Their move comes amid growing political activity ahead of the 2027 elections, with Nyoro positioning PPK as a platform for mobilising supporters and building a broader political movement.
The defections also come shortly after Nyoro declared his intention to seek the presidency while maintaining that he would support a single opposition candidate if leaders agree on a joint flag bearer.
The former UDA lawmaker has been calling for opposition leaders to unite and avoid splitting their votes ahead of the 2027 presidential contest.
