Questions have emerged over the political future of ODM Party leader and Siaya Senator Oburu Odinga amid reports that he has been advised by medical professionals in the United Kingdom to scale back his political engagements.
Reports circulating from the UK claim that Oburu has been encouraged to avoid active and intensive political activities as he continues his medical stay abroad.
The reports have sparked speculation about whether the veteran politician will be able to sustain an active role in elective politics, particularly as ODM undergoes internal political realignments.
Oburu has been in the United Kingdom for medical treatment after previously receiving medical attention in Nairobi. During his absence, day-to-day responsibilities within ODM have reportedly been delegated to deputy party leaders Simba Arati, the Kisii Governor, and Abdulswamad Nassir, the Mombasa Governor.
His prolonged absence comes at a time when political activity in Nyanza has intensified, with different leaders positioning themselves within the region ahead of the 2027 General Election.
However, there has been no public confirmation that Oburu has been barred from contesting future elections or that his political career has been brought to an end because of his medical condition.
