A domestic dispute took a deadly turn in Miruriri village, Imenti, Meru County, after a heated argument between two brothers ended in bloodshed.
The clash, reportedly sparked by a disagreement over termite harvesting within their compound, escalated into violence when one brother, identified as 48-year-old Godfrey Ngugi, was fatally attacked with a panga.
Ngugi died on the spot, while his brother—who also sustained serious injuries during the confrontation—was rushed to the hospital, where he remains under police watch.
The bizarre quarrel is said to have been triggered by one of the brothers’ sons harvesting termites, a common rural delicacy, from the family compound.
