A private vehicle believed to have been used in the alleged abduction of Juja Member of Parliament George Koimburi was recovered on Tuesday in Juja Township.
Police confirmed that the car’s owner—reportedly a close associate of the MP—was arrested. The individual is said to have served as a UDA agent during the 2022 elections in Juja Constituency.
Detectives investigating the incident stated that they are also searching for a bodaboda allegedly used to transport the MP from a house in the area to the coffee plantation where he was discovered on Monday morning.
Police Spokesperson Muchiri Nyaga described the arrest as a significant step in the investigation. “He is the owner of a Subaru Forester, which is alleged to have blocked the MP, leading to the latter’s purported abduction,” Nyaga said.
Koimburi was allegedly abducted outside a church in Mugutha, Kiambu County, on Sunday and later found abandoned at a coffee plantation in Kiambu the following morning.
However, police have since declared that the abduction was staged, suggesting it was orchestrated for political gain.
The MP is currently admitted to Karen Hospital in Nairobi.
