Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has announced plans to launch his new political party this week, ending months of speculation about his next political move following his impeachment nearly seven months ago.

Speaking during a church service in Juja on Sunday, May 11, Gachagua said the party’s launch would mark a fresh start in his political journey and would be accompanied by a grand celebration.

“This coming week I will launch my party, and there will be a huge party afterwards. I hope you will all attend,” he told the congregation.

Gachagua also took aim at the Kenya Kwanza administration, accusing it of attempting to divide the Mount Kenya voting bloc by promoting smaller political parties and presidential candidates in the region.

“I know Ruto will be launching smaller parties and even try to field presidential candidates in the mountains, but we will not accept that. People know their party, and in due time, they will know their candidate,” he said.

Sources indicate that the official launch is scheduled for Thursday, March 15. During the event, Gachagua is expected to unveil the party’s name, slogan, and official colours.

The move is widely seen as a strategic effort to re-establish his influence in the Mount Kenya region ahead of the 2027 general elections.
