A quiet village in Gichugu Constituency was left in shock after a gruesome domestic dispute turned deadly, ending with the death of 44-year-old Boniface Murage — allegedly at the hands of his own son.
Police have confirmed the arrest of a 25-year-old suspect, believed to be Murage’s son, following the brutal killing that has horrified the local community.

According to Gichugu Sub-County Police Commander Johnson Wachira, the father and son were embroiled in a heated argument reportedly triggered by a disagreement over chicken. What followed was a shocking act of violence: the suspect allegedly attacked his father with a panga (machete), severing both of his hands.
In a disturbing twist, witnesses claim the suspect was found draining his father’s blood into buckets, raising chilling concerns over his intent. “The scene was something out of a nightmare,” said one shaken neighbour.

After the attack, the suspect reportedly walked into Kianyaga Police Station to report the incident, claiming he had been injured during a fight with his father. He was then taken to Kianyaga Sub-County Hospital, where his father had also been rushed by neighbours — but was pronounced dead on arrival.Detectives later arrested the suspect at Kerugoya Referral Hospital, where he had been transferred for treatment. He remains under police guard as investigations continue.

Residents say they responded to the victim’s cries for help and arrived at a gruesome scene. “We found two buckets of blood, and his hands had been chopped off. The attacker had already fled,” one neighbour recounted.
It wasn’t long before word spread that the suspect had turned himself in at the police station, claiming he had been involved in a fight with his “drunk father.”
